The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) at Heriot-Watt
University Dubai is seeking to make a full-time appointment of Associate
Professor. This post arises as part of the ongoing development of the MACS
portfolio of UG and PG taught programmes offered in Dubai, in line with the
University's ambitious growth plans. The successful candidate will lead the
development and delivery of our new BSc in Statistical Data Science in Dubai,
mirroring the existing programme at our Edinburgh campus in Scotland. Previous leadership and teaching experience, a strong statistical background, and familiarity with modern computational statistical techniques are essential. Programmes will be delivered in English and so fluency in English is essential. Prior experience of course
development will be an advantage, as will expertise in R. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop strong links to colleagues at our Edinburgh
campus to deliver high quality learning and teaching, to contribute to the
continued development of the programmes offered to students,  to be involved in the recruitment of further staff to support such development, and to build research over time. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Statistics, Statistical Data Science, or a related discipline. Exceptional candidates possessing an extensive track
record of internationally excellent research and leadership may be considered
for appointment at Chair level.
