This post represents an exciting opportunity for a scientist with a track
record in a research field relevant to Global Health and with an interest
in finding solutions to the most pressing health issues facing rural
populations. We will consider applications from researchers with a wide
variety of backgrounds and interests including areas such as epidemiology,
health policy, economics, geography, biostatistics, bioinformatics or
equivalent. Candidates should have in-depth quantitative research methods
and several high-quality publications as a first author.

This post is part of a major strategic investment by the University of
Lincoln in developing its Global Health and Rural Health portfolio. With
the appointment of Prof Frank Tanser, as a Global Professor of Rural
Health, the University of Lincoln aims to develop solutions to the most
pressing health issues facing rural populations worldwide. In this research
area, the university is developing research projects in the UK, South
Africa, Malaysia, Burkina Faso and Australia. The incumbents will have
exposure to a diverse portfolio of research including studies evaluating
hospital-based and community-based interventions, service design and
delivery, and health technologies. The health issues investigated encompass
both communicable and non-communicable diseases. These include (but are not
limited to) HIV, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections as well as
obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and COPD. The incumbents will be
part of an outstanding multi-disciplinary team of statisticians,
epidemiologists, mathematical modellers, social scientists, clinical
trialists, bioinformaticians and other experts. The projects will utilise
state of the art methods in big data analytics, next generation viral gene
sequencing, spatial analysis as well as cutting-edge methods in the design
of Mhealth interventions.

The incumbent will be expected to make a significant contribution towards
establishing the university as an international centre of excellence in
Rural Health, evidenced through an increased research portfolio and
publications in high-quality journals. The post holder will receive a
generous salary and be afforded numerous opportunities and support to
further develop their own independent research careers through travel
opportunities and the attainment of fellowship funding.
