Post-doctoral
fellowship in Neuroimaging and Epilepsy – EEG-fMRI

The Laboratory of Neuroimaging of the University of Campinas has a Postdoctoral scholar position available to investigate EEG-fMRI datasets of epilepsy patients. Initial funding is for two years (with possible extension for an additional two years). This project is part of the FAPESP grant #2013/07559-3, The Brazilian Institute of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology - BRAINN, www.brainn.org.br.
Our lab is a multi-disciplinary research and education environment dedicated to exploring the interplay between Neuroscience, Mathematics, and Computer Sciences to help better characterize diseases mostly related to the nervous system. Our facility has a 3T MRI, an MRI-compatible EEG system, and additional supporting devices.
The research project aims at the identification of biomarkers to facilitate diagnosis and prognosis, possibly help the understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms and potentially predict response to treatment. To achieve these goals, the candidate will use current neuroimaging methods available and develop new analysis approaches for EEG and functional magnetic resonance imaging (EEG-fMRI).
The post-doctoral scholar will work under the supervision of Dr Fernando Cendes and will be supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation.
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, Neuroscience, or related area.
- A Ph.D. with research experience in the topics relevant to the project
- Strong neuroimaging and EEG background
- Knowledge about Epilepsy
- Expertise in Functional Connectivity and Dynamic Functional Connectivity
- Strong Matlab programming skills
- Experience in programming Graphical User Interfaces (GUI)
- Familiarity with neuroimaging toolboxes (SPM, FSL, etc.)
- A solid basis of Statistics
- Familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms
- Signal and image processing expertise
- Outstanding publication records
- Excellent communication skills
- Research independence
- Collaborative personality to work in groups with researchers and students
This position is expected to start on April 2020. We are located in Campinas, a vibrant city close to São Paulo, and the grant may cover part of the expenses for moving to Campinas/Brazil.
