Leoarna thanks for that query, what a great concept involving students in the observations of teaching.
As a related approach, with guidance and support from external expert, Professor Pete Dudley, at the University of Worcester we developed a small scale research project to involve students in a Lesson Study approach.
This enabled learners and academics to jointly reflect on learning following particular sessions. The work was critical
in terms of reviewing the experiences of students who had self declared (dis)abilities, especially as these experiences related to formative and summative assessments. It's a great strategy for engaging in deep, critically informed reflections and how these
reflections inform future pedagogic practices.
It will be interesting to learn about other similar initiatives aiming to strengthen understandings as to how students learn, cognisant of particular discipline practices, resource availability and students' identities,
Best wishes,
Dr Sean Bracken
PFHEA.
Dear Colleagues,
Here at Newman we are seeking innovative ways of influencing pedagogy, and to that end we are seeking working examples of students observing teaching as part of the educational development approach of institutions. If you have examples
to share, we would be most appreciative – thank you.
Kind regards
