You can't actually measure science capital, useful as it is too think about.

That said, STFC have a clearly explained public engagement evaluation strategy that includes questions to help get an idea of science capital. It might be useful to synch to this if you can? If you get funding from them then they will want your evaluation to match their system.

Can anyone advise what is the best way to understand the socio-economic backgrounds of schools? I have heard over the years a lot about how postcode data can be received and used to indicate how privileged/disadvantaged people form different UK regions are but never had to obtain or analyse it myself until now as part of my role in Outreach for a UK fusion lab.

Is postcode data a good measure? What's the quickest way to obtain this? Are there any other ways that people regular use to assess science capital?
