What will you be doing?
Science Explainers will run science demonstrations and hands-on workshops, focused on chemistry and IYPT2019 themes, at the Royal Society of Chemistry for students aged 7-11. They will engage with the children during organised sessions. Training will help equip explainers with the knowledge and skills needed to run a successful event. They will learn through practice and enjoy the experience with a diverse and dynamic team.
Who are we looking for?
Science communicators, who are enthusiastic, engaged, proactive and looking to build their experience. Though you don’t have to be an expert, those with background of science (particularly chemistry), outreach and running activities with children would be particularly well suited to this role. Science Explainers must be fluent in English language.

● Hone your skills in engaging with children and managing school groups.
● Gain knowledge and practice science outreach as you engage with the children, teachers as well as
the team of other science explainers.
● Offered training prior to the event to introduce workshops’ content as well as build your
confidence and knowledge of science communication, outreach and public engagement.
● Offered a fee of £12 per working hour
