Curating Fashion and Dress

The V&A’s Fashion collection is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world, attracting millions of visitors. Through a series of talks, hands-on workshops and behind-the-scenes tours, this one-week intensive course will guide you through how best to develop, manage and conserve your own fashion and dress collection. Delivered by V&A fashion curators and conservators, this course is a unique opportunity for museum professionals to develop their own fashion and dress curation skills and to build a strong international peer network with other museum professionals.

The Making of Exhibitions

This one-week intensive course provides a unique opportunity for museum professionals working in exhibitions development, planning and delivery to broaden and deepen their knowledge of how to produce world-class temporary exhibitions. Using recent V&A exhibitions as case studies, key members of V&A staff will offer insight into how to efficiently manage all aspects of an exhibition, from conceptualisation to design, installation to press, marketing and digital campaigns.

Managing and Caring for your Collection

Delivered by V&A experts, this one-week intensive course provides a unique opportunity for museum professionals working in collection care and management from all over the world to meet and share knowledge. With a vast collection of over 2 million objects spanning over 5,000 years of art and design history, our experienced team of collection managers, conservators and curators have developed outstanding expertise in caring for and managing the V&A collections. A mixture of talks and hands-on workshops will provide practical tips and advice that you can take away and apply to your own institution.

This one-week intensive course offers participants the unique opportunity to learn how to identify and develop business opportunities within your institution. As cultural organisations become increasingly tasked with generating income and diversifying funding sources, this course considers a range of opportunities including retail, membership, ticketed events, venue hire, catering and licensing. Led by specialist V&A staff, you will gain the insight and inspiration to identify and monetise your own organisation's assets in a way that supports your cultural mission and visitor experience.
