Dear All

Does anyone know where to buy rubber granules or similar for a mini dig experience?

Please reply to Tim Amsden below (who is not on the GEM list)

Thank you.

At Tring Local History Museum we have an ‘archaeological dig’ for children, in which items are buried in a bowl full of rubber granules.  It’s been there rather a long time and in the interests of hygiene we think we ought to renew it.

The material, Gold yellow peroxide EPDM granules, came from a company called MRI Polytech.  They no longer make it and our attempts to find another supplier have got us nowhere.  Does any member museum have any experience of this, or of any comparable and safe material suitable for the purpose, and could advise us as to where to obtain it?

Many thanks,

Tim
