Celebrating 190 Years

 

Nutrition and Nurture in Infancy and Childhood:

Bio-Cultural Perspectives

Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th of June 2020

Turku, Finland

 

Three-day international, interdisciplinary conference organised by the

Health in Early Life and Parenthood research group and the Department of Nursing Science, University of Turku, Finland, in collaboration with:

Maternal and Infant Nutrition and Nurture Unit (MAINN), University of Central Lancashire, UK;

Reproductive, Infant and Child Health Centre (RICH), School of Education, Health and Social Studies, Dalarna University, Sweden;

Turku University Hospital, Finland; and the research network SCENE.

 

This will be the eleventh conference on ‘Nutrition and Nurture in Infancy and Childhood: Bio-Cultural Perspectives’. The conference was initiated in 2007 by Professor Fiona Dykes, lead for the Maternal and Infant Nutrition and Nurture Unit (MAINN), University of Central Lancashire. It has been held every other year in the UK by MAINN and in 2014 in Sydney, Australia, 2016 in Sweden and in 2018 in Florida. 

 

In 2020, the conference is to be held in Finland; the convenor is Associate Professor Anna Axelin, Department of Nursing Science, University of Turku.

 

The conference links closely with the research network Separation and Closeness Experiences in the Neonatal Environment (SCENE) headed by Associate Professor Anna Axelin.

*A SCENE Symposium day will be held on Friday 12th of June*

Abstract Requirements – Deadline 30th of November 2019

The abstract must include the following:

 

Length should be no more than 700 words (including title, author information and references)

Please state your preference for a paper or poster presentation.

Please also supply a short biography of each author with your abstract.

 

The subject line of the email should clearly state “Nutrition & Nurture Conference Abstract”.  All abstracts will be reviewed by the Conference Scientific Review Committee chaired by Professor Fiona Dykes. Please send your abstract as a Word document attachment to [log in to unmask]

Conference venue

The conference venue is University of Turku, Medisiina D building (address: Kiinamyllynkatu 10, Turku)

 

Conference Booking, Accommodation and Enquiries:

The conference fee is 400 EUR for the three days, which includes refreshments, lunch and conference documentation.  A day rate is also available at 150 EUR per day which includes refreshments, lunch and conference documentation on the day you are attending.

 

Conference dinner will be in restaurant Hus Lindman on Wed 10th of June, the dinner fee is 70 EUR/person

 

The SCENE Symposium will be free of charge (refreshments and lunch on own expense).
