Hi Jenny

Thanks! This is really helpful, there are a few app options out there for locking down sites so great to have a recommendation.

Hi Sarah,

We used to use Kiosk Browser Lockdown at the Bodleian Libraries: https://www.android-kiosk.com/ It is easy to use and you can load a URL and restrict visitors to only browse that site (often our own exhibition content hosted online). You can also black/whitelist certain sites. There are many more functions that you're able to play about with but the basics are easy to setup. And the team were really responsive to questions.

There is a free version of the app but the full version was only £5, looks like it is now £7.50, so minimal costs even if you're using it on multiple devices.

Happy to provide more info off list if it would be helpful.

Jenny.

Subject: Android tablets and kiosk mode...

Hi MCG

Sorry if this has been asked recently - I've spoken to a few people individually about this but thought I'd check with the group.

If I was a museum with Android tablets, and I wanted to use web pages (i.e. Gift Aid forms, surveys) in Kiosk mode in order to take details from visitors in gallery, is screen pinning the only non-specialist way to make this happen? I've heard that the only other way is to code kiosk mode into an app itself, but I'm assuming that's not accessible to us non-developer mortals... Or is this actually quite easy?

Anyone who has done this recently themselves and would be happy to explain the process in detail, please contact me on or off list! And massive thank you in advance :-)

Sarah
