Cavalcanti After Cavalcanti
15thMay 2020, Selwyn College, University of Cambridge
Guido Cavalcanti had an immediate and exceptional exegetic fortuna, and since his early reception he has been recognized and anointed as an auctor. Nonetheless, Cavalcanti’s canonisation has been largely influenced by some of his most distinguished readers, and often determined by their preoccupation of establishing their respective authorial identity (such as Dante, Boccaccio or Pound). This one-day colloquium seeks to investigate Cavalcanti’s reception in Italy and to reflect upon his legacy in the lyric canon.
We invite proposals falling into these three following macro-areas:
- Cavalcanti’s immediate reception
- Cavalcanti in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries
- Cavalcanti in the twentieth century
Confirmed invited speakers: Giancarlo Alfano (Napoli – Federico II), Marco Berisso (Genova), Manuele Gragnolati (Paris – Sorbonne), Catherine Keen (UCL), Francesca Southerden (Oxford), Paolo Zublena (Genova)
Abstracts: Proposals for academic papers should be for 20-minute presentations. Please email an abstract (max 300 words) with a short biographical note (max 150 words) with details of institutional affiliation (if any) to the following dedicated email address: [log in to unmask]
Deadline for Abstracts: Sunday, 12thJanuary 2020.
Please note that the working languages are Italian and English
