Secondary Mathematics Teacher Education BSc and PGCE |

We are looking for a dedicated individual to undertake the role of Course External Examiner within our Secondary Mathematics Teacher Education programme
at Sheffield Hallam University. The successful applicant will take up post with immediate effect. The secondary phase provision is extensive and includes undergraduate, postgraduate, university based, School Direct and SCITTs across the 11-18 age ranges. Course
External Examiners are allocated an identified course group alongside module assessments from within those courses. This particular post covers two courses: three year
BSc Mathematics with Education and QTS, and PGCE Secondary Mathematics with QTS. There are eight course external examiners associated with the secondary phase who work alongside a Chief External Examiner who represents them at the Departmental
Assessment Board. As a Course External Examiner your role & responsibilities would include:

full role description You should have appropriate expertise and experience to be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education; specifically
PGCE and assessment of levels 5, 6 & 7 academic work in Mathematics Teacher Education. The appointee will be required to moderate a sample of scripts in relation to selected modules within the above courses. You will be required to attend
the university for a meeting with other external examiners and the course team, and to sample placement provision. The number of visits to Sheffield will usually be around two or three days per year. You will be required to produce an annual report. You will also be required to attend a one off, one day University External Examiners Induction session.
