I would like to announce a new release of Diogenes (version 4.0), a widely used application for accessing the legacy databases of texts in Latin and ancient Greek that were once published on cd-rom by the Packard Humanities Institute and the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae, with close integration of morphological data and lexica from the Perseus project.

This is an extensively revised version which fixes many bugs and adds some significant new features: all users are recommended to upgrade.  This is particularly urgent for Mac users, as the upcoming version of Mac OS X, Catalina, which is due for release in a few weeks, ends support for 32-bit applications. Under Catalina, previous versions of Diogenes will cease to work.

New features include:

* A new, modern front-end based upon the Chrome browser
* A redesigned user interface
* Ability to export texts as TEI-compliant XML
* Integration with the recently released open-access PDFs of the volumes of the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae
