Dear All,

 

We are delighted to announce an upcoming symposium on 'Toxic Digital Intimacies' which will be hosted by the Centre for Intimate and Sexual Citizenship (CISC) at the University of Essex on Thursday the 19th of September. This event will explore 'toxic digital intimacies', or instances of technologically mediated harm. It is concerned with questions of how gender and sexuality are regulated and targeted within these contexts, as well as moments of resistance. This event will bring together academics and stakeholders. 

 

Speakers include: Prof Jessica Ringrose (UCL), Dr. Alison Winch (UEA), Dr. Katerina Hadjimatheou (Essex), Dr. Carrie Myers (City), Dr. Craig Haslop (Liverpool), and Dr. Jenny Van Hoof (MMU).

 

Topics covered will include; revenge porn, sexual harassment and online dating, homophobic harassment online, sexism in digital cultures, and critical intersectionalities.
