Aurelie, that would be possible but rather rare....first thing I'd do is check to see whether other rhinos were collected and/or macerated or skeletonized at the same time or in the same batch, just to be sure that you don't have a couple of thoracics in the box with that rhino that really belong to another animal. That's what I thought, and it's also what I observed on some mounted skeletons online. I wanted to be sure because we have, in the museum I work with, an allegedly complete post-cranial skeleton with what looks like 20 thoracic vertebrae (with costal imprints). So I thought I would check with the zooarch family!
