This is the kind of thing I mean by ankle barriers - https://absoluteproduct.com/essential-barrier.html I’ve not come across the phrase kick boards before – is just as it sounds, that solid boards upright around things to act as a barrier?

 

Ditto, it’d be great to hear your pros and cons! Our rope/ankle barriers cause us problems as they’re easily moveable, and the ropes flex a lot so you can pretty much walk through them. They’re also not very obvious so people miss them a lot  (though I think this is partly due to being in a working building rather than a solely museum/gallery space).

Good afternoon Lowri,

 

Here at Burton Constable Hall we use both ropes and ankle barriers (assuming those are the same as our kick boards). Our kick boards have mainly been made in-house by our technician.

 

As I’m currently assessing the pros and cons of the two methods and weighing up the effectiveness of them as barriers, I’d be very interested to hear more about your own decision making processes – and information anyone may supply on where to source them!

Does anyone know of any good suppliers of ankle barriers? I’m after something a bit more solid and/or more visually arresting than the usual rope barrier type, but really struggling to find anything.
