Support Astronomer
Zero Hours Contract
£12.24 per hour plus holiday pay
Greenwich, London

The Science Learning department at the Royal Observatory Greenwich (ROG) delivers a world-class offer exploring the science of astronomy and space exploration for schools and the general public.

The department is looking for enthusiastic individuals with a background in amateur astronomy and a talent for science communication to support this exciting programme. Post holders will deliver planetarium shows, observing sessions, workshops and other activities.

Support astronomers work alongside other full-time and part-time post holders, enabling our offer for schools and the public to be maintained, working in the week, at weekends and in the evenings.

Work opportunities will be irregular, requiring a degree of flexibility and responsiveness - within realistic limits. Work opportunities will usually be flagged 1 month in advance, with the occasional requests for emergency support in a far shorter timeframe.
