Non-Indigenous Librarians and Indigenous Knowledge in Aotearoa New Zealand

CILIP International Library & Information Group (ILIG) extends a warm
welcome to our next Informal on <http://tinyurl.com/h826pl6> Wednesday,
11th September- 6:00pm to 7:45pm at CILIP HQ, 7 Ridgmount Street, London
WC1E 7AE

Attendance is FREE but we kindly request that you book in advance for
catering purposes (light nibbles/wine).

Kathryn Oxborrow is a PhD student at Victoria University of Wellington,
Aotearoa New Zealand. She has been investigating how non-Mâori librarians in
Aotearoa New Zealand learn about and engage with Mâori knowledge, talking
with 25 librarians about their journeys. Kathryn will share what she has
learned about the processes that librarians go through in learning about
indigenous knowledge and applying it to their contexts. She will also talk
about the cultural context of her study and consider some of the possible
applications for UK librarians.

ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, early evening social
gatherings followed by a short talk on a theme of international interest
plus plenty of time for questions and networking. They are open to all and
absolutely free. Light refreshments are served which is why we ask you to
let ILIG know you are coming by booking
