QEUH is a large hospital with ~1650 beds including 82 bed ITU/HDU, regional/national paediatric hopsital (250 beds) and regional neurosurgery plus the hospital will become a full a trauma centre. The new (2015) lab block contains: Biochemistry, Immunology, Haematology, Microbiology, Histopath for NHSGGC and regional Genetics. The lab performed 10M+ tests last year and works in collaberation with Glasgow Royal and Paisley Royal Alexandria Hospital to form a 26+M test service. QEUH Biochemistry has particular interests in toxicology, metabolic and aspects of therapeutic drug monitoring.
