altmetrics19. BYOR: Bring your own research

altmetrics19 ( <http://altmetrics.org/altmetrics19>
http://altmetrics.org/altmetrics19) is part of the altmetrics workshop
series organized since 2011 and will take place in conjunction with the 6th
Altmetrics Conference (6:AM; <http://www.altmetricsconference.com/>
http://altmetricsconference.com) Stirling Court Hotel, located on the
University of Stirling campus (Scotland, UK) on 11 October 2019.

This time, altmetrics19 encourages the community to bring their own research
and set their own topical foci in contributions. This will allow us to
simultaneously discuss the state of the art of research in altmetrics and
social media-based metrics as well as to detect new research fronts.
Together with the workshop participants we would like to reflect on current
research approaches as well as to look at future horizons of altmetrics
research and practice.

Call for contributions

We are soliciting empirical and theoretical contributions for short
presentations and as a basis for discussions, which will be the main focus
of the altmetrics19 workshop. Submissions can focus on empirical analyses,
novel theoretical frameworks, original datasets or represent a position
paper. The goal of the workshop is to discuss, exchange and foster
collaboration on social media metrics and altmetrics. While a short paper is
not a requirement to attend the workshop, we strongly encourage prospective
participants to submit a contribution to seed the discussions. The
organizers will give priority to submissions linking to original research
artifacts and bearing potential for deeper reflection on altmetrics use and
research. All accepted submissions (as an extended version) will be
considered for publication in the Journal of Altmetrics [
<https://www.journalofaltmetrics.org/> https://www.journalofaltmetrics.org/]
should the authors agree, otherwise they will be made available via the
workshop website.

How to submit

Please provide short papers (1,500-3,000 words) presenting the objectives,
questions, methods and results of your altmetrics research.

Short papers in PDF need to be submitted via
<https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=altmetrics19> EasyChair by 15 July
2019. Please include a link to any relevant artifact (e.g., a dataset,
plots, slidedeck) you wish to present and discuss, after archiving it via an
appropriate repository (e.g., Zenodo, Dryad, figshare, GitHub, SlideShare,
etc.).

Upon completing a review process and complying with required revisions,
papers submitted to the workshop will be considered for publication in the
Journal of Altmetrics [ <https://www.journalofaltmetrics.org/>
https://www.journalofaltmetrics.org/]. The Journal of Altmetrics is an Open
Access Journal, sponsored by the Levy Library at Mount Sinai, and currently
waives authors’ fees for publications. All papers receive a DOI and are
tracked for impact metrics. Authors of selected papers from the altmetrics19
workshop, as well as from the 6:AM Conference, will be asked to provide an
extended version of their presentation/short paper, which will then be
re-reviewed and published in a special issue dedicated to the conference and
workshop. For more information about the journal please visit
<https://www.journalofaltmetrics.org/> https://www.journalofaltmetrics.org/

More information on the workshop can be found on the website:

We are looking forward to receiving your submissions!
