%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

We are looking to appoint two Research Assistants/Associates to undertake research in data-centric engineering, broadly defined. You will be ambitious and have a clear vision of the research you seek to deliver, making this role well-suited to early career researchers who wish to develop a distinctive portfolio of independent and collaborative research. You will disseminate research through publication in appropriate, high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at national and international conferences and scientific meetings.

A generous travel and conference allowance will be available to support your research activities and to enable you to interact with the Lloyd’s Register Foundation programme on data-centric engineering at Alan Turing Institute, based in the British Library in London, UK. There is the possibility that you could be based part or full time at the Alan Turing Institute.

You will hold a PhD in Statistics or a related technical discipline (in submission or awarded) and will have strong mathematical skills, or excellent computational expertise (or both). You will have excellent communication skills and should be capable of articulating a compelling vision to achieve the aim of the research.

For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Chris Oates, Chair in Statistics at Newcastle University and Group Leader for the data-centric engineering programme at the Alan Turing Institute, [log in to unmask]
