Imperial College London Research Fellow in Statistics Department of Primary Care and Public Health, School of Public Health Faculty of Medicine Salary: £42,654 - £46,499 per annum Location: Charing Cross Hospital Campus, Hammersmith Applications are invited for the post of Research Fellow in Statistics within Imperial College London's School of Public Health (SPH), and specifically in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health. The appointee will participate in an ambitious project over two years to assess the long-term associations between cardiovascular and metabolic factors and the development of dementia among people with Type 2 diabetes. The project includes several large-scale longitudinal studies among people with Type 2 Diabetes using the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) that holds routinely collected primary care data linked to secondary care and mortality data. The planned research project aims to answer both aetiological and prognostic research questions. The analysis plan comprises time-to-event analyses including competing risk regression modelling, longitudinal multilevel analyses and latent class analyses, amongst others. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is looking to develop their career in academic public health or statistics with a particular interest in the analysis of big data and applied clinical and epidemiological research. The successful candidate will be a member of the research team working on the project alongside research leads including Dr Eszter Vamos, Dr Alex Bottle, Professor Azeem Majeed and Professor Christopher Millett, and other academic staff to deliver a research project consistent with its defined research aims. You will lead and undertake research of the highest quality in the broad area of clinical epidemiology. It is expected that you will use advanced statistical methods to address the objectives of the research project and publish research papers in high quality peer-reviewed journals. You will be expected to manage and maintain complex data sets, obtain research grants and funding and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the regulations of the awarding body of the funder, through lectures, seminars, course work, tutorials and personal supervision. You will need A PhD in Statistics or a closely related discipline or equivalent research and knowledge of advanced research methods and statistical procedures. The successful candidate will have a creative approach to problem-solving, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to direct a small research team to produce high quality work. Team work, prioritising and organisation skills are also essential to this role.
