We are looking for a Medical Statistician with a background in clinical trials and academic clinical research to join our team providing statistical support to our trials and academic research strengths across a wide range of therapeutic areas.


Surrey Clinical Trials Unit and Clinical Research Facility combines a UK CRC registered Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and MHRA accredited Phase 1 Clinical Research Facility (CRF) focused on academic clinical trials/studies supporting high quality research outputs and impact cases. The combined CTU/CRF is at the centre of clinical research in University of Surrey across all phases from laboratory/first-in-human studies to multicentre clinical trials, and leading evaluation and implementation strategies on cross-faculty initiatives such as in digital health.

The unit is part of theFaculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and is situated on the University Manor Park site close to the main University campus.  The University is world-leading in sleep research and the facilities for conducting and analysing clinical sleep assessments are housed within the centre, giving opportunities for collaboration on sleep/circadian rhythms and to support planned developments in dementia research.

In conjunction with the Senior Statistician, the post holder will be responsible for the statistical aspects of the design, analysis and reporting of clinical trials and studies supported by the Clinical Trials Unit and Clinical Research Facility.  In addition, the post holder will be expected to provide statistical support to other research areas across the University.  As such, the post holder will be expected to interact closely with the CTU/CRF teams, Director of Surrey Sleep Research Centre, Principal Investigators, and academics/clinicians within the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine and beyond.

Applicants should hold an MSc in Medical Statistics and/or a PhD in a relevant area and have experience in the conduct, analysis and interpretation of clinical trials and human research. They should have knowledge of programming in SAS, R or Stata and excellent communication skills.
