Good question…!

Picking just one thing is always tricky, especially when you know good people doing great things, so in order to annoy all my friends equally, here’s a couple of suggestions, none of which are by people I know.

I went to a talk by some of the staff from the National Museum of Brazil recently, sharing what they did and continue to do after their terrible fire:

I was really impressed by their response, which included a ‘Museu Nacional vive’ campaign – the National Museum Lives! Including outdoor events in the grounds about their collections, art, science and more, staged very shortly after the fire, and continuing. That persistence, and the work they’ve tried to do to be open to their community, is admirable. Look at the #museunacionalvive hashtag for examples of some of their work - https://twitter.com/MuseuNacional/status/1144342873699233799

(and they would welcome donations of cash too)

I like what I’ve read about Tactile Universe in terms of how they are developing new materials in consultation with their target audiences

And for a third…

This episode of the Moth, which has some beautiful storytelling

With best wishes

(off to look up how you use My Little Pony FanFiction to explain particle physics, which is not a sentence I ever expected to type)

Evening all

At this evening's after party for today's brilliant London Sci Comm Symposium (prop: K Freeman) I found myself in a discussion about This List.

To summarise, the number of people whom I respect who said they would not post to the psci-com list for fear of the ensuing negativity was remarkable, and - frankly - depressing.

So...

In a desperate rearguard attempt to develop a bit of Psci-Com positivity, here is a challenge:

Reply to this message with the best bit of Sci Comm you've seen in the last twelve months.

If we fail to generate 24 hours of solid psci
-com positivity then I will unsubscribe. Then you'll be sorry.
