Business Archives Council of Scotland Conference 2019

 

BACS is working with partners to bring out 2019 conference to the Kelvinhall in Glasgow on Monday 2nd September. It is on theme of Film in Business Archives and we are delighted to invite submissions for this year's conference in the form of papers (c20-30mins) or lightening talks (<10mins).

 

Tell us about your organisation's collection of film and moving image material, what approaches have you taken to demonstrate the potential of film in business archives? What successes have you had and what lessons have been learnt in how you manage, preserve and use your film archives? Are you a researcher who has used film in business archive collections? Have you used film to connect with different user communities or explore the wider collection?

 

Proposals for papers, lightening talks or practical sessions might include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

• The challenges of managing film within your business archive collections
• The history of corporate and industrial films, why and how were they commissioned?
• The business of film – looking at cinemas or film production companies in Scotland
• Uses of business and industrial films for engagement or corporate purposes

 

Please send your proposals by 14th June to BACS (email [log in to unmask]) with the following information:

• Name and organisation of speaker(s)
• Type of proposal (presentation OR lightening talk)
• Title
• An abstract of no more than 300 words
