Hello all,

I'm a curator at an open-air museum in south Wales housing a selection of recreated and relocated buildings from the Iron Age to the present, all set in a rural landscape.

We have a small field in which, until a few years ago, we grew a range of heritage crops (wheat, oats, flax). This field has now become available to us again, and I'm wondering what we can usefully grow which will have a research as well as a display purpose. I'm familiar with the work on early wheats that Peter Reynolds undertook at Butser and have read the results of Professor van der Veen's work in this area during the 1990s. But could anyone suggest anyone currently undertaking experimental crop work who I could contact, or does anyone have any suggestions of projects that might be worth pursuing?

At this stage we don't have a particular crop in mind although, without alternative suggestions, we're likely to plant a commercial spelt as this has been successful for us before.

Happy to provide more information if this query is too broad!
