Please pass onto your students, friends and colleagues about a new SWCTN
Porthmeor Residency at Porthmeor Studios, St Ives for artists that use
technology and focus on immersion - so great for sound and installation
artists etc...  The launch is this Saturday at Porthmeor Studios at 3.30pm
as part of an afternoon of events so please come and ask questions & you
can pop in and see the studio that is being used by guest resident Steven
Claydon at the moment:



*The SWCTN Porthmeor Residency includes: *

1 month in Studio 11 in either Oct, Nov or Dec 2019 -

£450 for the month towards travel etc.. costs.



*Application Process:*

1. Up to date CV (max 2 sides A4)

2. A statement about why you want a month at Porthmeor  - max 1 side of A4
to include info on:

·         What art form, technology and focus on immersion.

·         Info about living in the SW or your strong SW connection

·         Link to work -  a link straight to 2 x pieces of work.

·         Assurance that you will be able to dedicate the vast majority of
the month to using the studio.

*Notes:*

*a.    *A pair of artists or small group (3? Including a technologist/
coder) could apply together for a residency if working on the same piece
but you do need to think about the space.

*b.    *You will increase your chances of being chosen by being available
all three months.

Shortlisting is done by experts in the digital/ immersive arts field with
the final choice by the BSJW Trust Selection Committee.

media for more info.

The launch is part of a *Celebration at Porthmeor on May 18th*:

·         1-2pm  - Exhibition by Virginia Bounds in the Borlase Smart room.
Virginia (Gini) will be around 1 – 2pm and again at the *Underneath the
Floorboards *PV – all welcome – 6-8pm.

·          Talk by Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid in her studio 2pm
(fully booked).

·         3.30pm  - The launch of a 3 x 1 month SWCTN Porthmeor Residencies
for artists using technology focussing on immersion (Oct, Nov or Dec 2019).

·         Try VR and HoloLens experiences (including 3D painting) in the
fishermen’s cellar 1  - 3.15pm

·         *Open Studios* by Porthmeor Artists’ Residency Programme guests
Steven Claydon and Daniel Sinsel and long-term tenant artists: Sam Bassett,
Andy Harper, Felicity Mara, Iain Robertson, Marion Taylor and Clare Wardman

·          Kate Walters *Shetland Notebooks* book-signing – 1-4pm – foyer

·         Drop-in free life drawing classes at the St Ives School of
Painting <https://schoolofpainting.co.uk/> – 1.30 – 5pm short poses every
half hour from 1.30pm

·         Mark Dion’s installation *The Maritime Artist* in Cellar 4

Free snacks and tea & coffee - foyer.
