The Youth Libraries Group North East (part of CILIP The Library and Information Association) annual training day is at Newcastle City Library this Saturday 18^th May and is all about comics. I’m one of many presenters (also: Mel Gibson, Tara Mcinerny, Paper Jam Comics Collective, Andy Hodgkinson of Gateshead Libraries, Becca Swainston of Travelling Man).

 

Comic Swap – the annual postal exchange for groups of children that make comics – deadline is 24th May 2019. Full info here https://comicswap.wordpress.com/2019/03/01/swap-dates-for-2019/, and examples from previous years. You post us 6 copies of a comic made by a group of children, with a signed permission form. Hannah Sackett and I add one copy to the Comic Swap library (with Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children’s Books), then we post you a mix of 5 comics made by other kids’ groups. It’s a great way to connect groups of kids who make comics (without the expense of convention tables), and to build a collection of comics made by young creators.
