We are looking for a Head of Science Communications to be responsible for ensuring the effective communication of the MSC's Standards, science and technical activity, including research into the impact and credibility of the MSC program.

Underpinning and integral to the MSC’s work and the credibility of its program is its strong science base. Both the Fisheries Standard and the Chain of Custody Standard are created using global best practice science.
About the role
The Head of Science Communications leads the team responsible for ensuring effective communication of the development and application of the MSC’s Standards and the organisation's science and technical activity. This activity includes research
into the impact and credibility of the MSC program.
Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer and integrated within the Science & Standards department, the Head of Science Communications leads a newly developed integrated science communications strategy for key stakeholders including
marine scientists, NGOs, Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) and fisheries.
Working closely with communications colleagues in both the global and regional teams, the Head of Science Communications will strengthen the MSC’s relevance and thought leadership in the wider ocean sustainability agenda. Their work will
help to reinforce the organisation’s leading position in seafood sustainability and position the MSC as the world’s most credible certification and labelling programme for wild-caught seafood. They will work with the MSC’s Fisheries Standard team to ensure
effective, timely and accurate communications with relevant stakeholders during Fisheries Standard Reviews, helping to drive meaningful engagement in consultations and clearly communicating any resulting changes to the MSC’s certification requirements.
Day to day, the post holder will ensure external communications including newsletters, reports, press releases, social media and website content are scientifically / technically accurate. They provide assets, support and advice to the
Executive and other senior MSC staff relating to communication of the MSC’s science and impact. Working alongside the Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Manager and Global Communications team, they help to ensure colleagues across the MSC are sufficiently
briefed about MSC’s Standards and policy development, as well as relevant science/technical issues, to enable them to carry out their roles effectively.
