The Early Bird deadline for CILIP Conference 2019 is nearly upon us (ends 17 May), meaning that you have until next week to take advantage of the reduced delegate rate.
CILIP Conference has a reputation for its excellent keynote speakers, comprehensive programme and welcoming atmosphere, making it easy for you to meet like-minded professionals and make new contacts.
This year's programme (3-4 July, Manchester) is packed with content from all corners of the library and information profession. As a delegate you can look forward to two days of comprehensive expert-led seminars and workshops that will appeal to professionals, no matter what stage of career. They will cover topics including digital innovation in libraries, developments in higher education, diversity and inclusion within publishing, RDA, ISNI and linked data, and a Healthcare session. The sessions will encourage discussion, knowledge sharing and cross-sectoral learning, and provide delegates with the practical skills and knowledge to positively influence the future.
Our thought-provoking keynote speakers will be tackling issues such as ethics, inclusion and the impact of the digital agenda on participation. The keynote speakers are:
Liz Jolly, Chief Librarian, British Library talking about her role and the work of the British Library.
Patrick Lambe, Knowledge Management Practitioner will consider the breaking down of boundaries and greater fluidity of role between our profession and those of other knowledge-related roles in society: educators, scientists and researchers, journalists, independent booksellers and publishers, eccentric collectors, and the "good citizen".
Hong-Anh Nguyen, Information Service Manager at The Kings Fund will talk about the issue of diversity in the profession and will be offering her views to the CILIP Conference audience.
Kriti Sharma was recently named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for advancements in AI, as leading global voice on AI ethics and its impact on society.
Aat Vos, Architect and creative guide with more than 30 years of experience with library design and development. His mission: to create social places where everyone feels welcome all over the world. Aat Vos will offer a new perspective for librarians and show how they can not only broaden their vision, but also how they can transform their libraries into successful third places for all.
