Dear Julia,
That’s the right way to add a variable of no interest. I’m not sure exactly what your last question is asking though, if EV4 consists of demeaned ages, then a value of 0 by definition indicates a subject of mean age.

Kind Regards
Matthew

Dear Mr Webster,
Thank you for your answer. Then, if I would like to add a variable of no interest. Is it possible to ad it as a fourth EV as below?
If EV1-EV3 are the three groups, and EV4 is age demeaned. Does FSL treat for example the "0" in EV3 and EV4 in C1 the same?

    EV1 EV2 EV3 EV4 F1
C1 1 -1 0 0 x
C2 -1 0 1 0 x
C3 0 -1 1 0

Thank you in advance.

Yours sincerely,
Julia Lam
