Dear All,

We have been looking at enclosing our farm gallery building to help preserve the our collection of local farming equipment and improve the display etc. It is missing a final wall, which was meant to be glazed but this wasn’t finished, so it’s open to the elements on one side. This gallery space (built in the 1970s) is in a separate building in the garden of our main museum but as it is in the curtilage of our grade 2* listed building, this presents a planning challenge.

Following a less than promising conversation with the conservation officer we wondered if any of you had examples of work done to help protect your collection/ improve the visitor experience by enclosing/updating/ improving a building that isn’t listed but is in the curtilage of a listed building.

Any information, support, contacts would be really helpful. You can send details off list by email me directly at either [log in to unmask] or  [log in to unmask]

Kind regards,

Holly Trubshawe
