The Section for New Professionals is offering six travel bursaries to support members attend their annual summer networking event. The Section for New Professionals 9th Summer Seminar will be held in Edinburgh City Chambers on Friday 7th June 2019. 

  

The event runs from 11am-4pm, with registration starting from 10:40am. This year we will focus on the changing role of the archives professional and the need for different knowledge and skills.  

  

The bursaries will support travel, and if necessary, accommodation costs. There are four available for new professionals who are based in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) and two for new professionals based in the Irish region. 

 

The bursaries for the those based in Great Britain will cover travel costs up to £50 and accommodation costs up to £90. 

 

The bursaries for those based in the Irish region will cover travel and accommodation up to a combined cost €200.  

  

In return, the Section for New Professionals ask that all successful applicants help document the day by contributing to one or more of the following tasks: 

·         Tweeting from the event 

·         Taking photographs 

·         Producing a blog post to appear on the Off the Record blog 

·         Writing a short article for ARC magazine or similar 

This will help us share the event with an even wider audience of new professionals. 

  

In order to apply you: 

·         Must be in the first 5 years of a career in archives, records or conservation 

·         Must be a member of the ARA and the Section for New Professionals 

  

You do not need to be an ARA member to attend the event, but only current ARA members (including student members) are eligible to apply for the available travel bursaries. 

  

To apply for a bursary, please complete the attached application form and email to newprofessionals@archives.org.uk . The deadline for applications is Friday 8th May and applicants will be notified whether they have been successful on Monday 15th May. 

 

The recipients of the bursaries do not need to reserve a place at the event. Though if you would like to attend and haven’t yet booked your place you can do so via the Eventbrite page - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sfnp-summer-seminar-tickets-60113227281 - before 31st May. 

  

Light refreshments will be provided but attendees are advised that lunch is not included. Following the event, all are welcome to attend an informal networking at a pub. 

The venue is within easy walking distance of Edinburgh Waverley train station. 

This is a popular annual event which offers opportunities for networking and discussion with fellow professionals.
