Hi David
My understanding is that the evidence is in the reduction (to zero, from several per annum) of contractual disputes since the implementation of the comics contracts for Robert de Rooy’s client (in 2016).

Of course, you are right to be skeptical. As with written contracts, quality is everything. Robert de Rooy’s design and illustration team has been very strong. But we have seen some pretty ordinary examples of comics put together by other lawyers. Hence the need for multi-disciplinary work on these complex documents.

There’s a special edition of the University of Western Australia’s Law Journal being put together at the moment which will cover the papers and discussions from the Comic Book and Creative Contracts Conference from December 2017.

    Hi Stuart,

This is interesting, but I’m skeptical. What evidence is there to show this has the desired outcomes?
