We are happy to announce the organisation of an interdisciplinary symposium led by postgraduate researchers at the University of Glasgow

Constructing Places

Imagination, heritage and identities in cultural  tourism

Thursday 2 May | 9.30 am - 2.45 pm


This event will scrutinise place narratives and destination branding in cultural tourism, with a particular focus on film and TV as shapers of place, heritage and identities. The keynote address will be delivered by Prof Stijn Reijnders (Erasmus University Rotterdam), author of Places of the Imagination: Media, tourism, and culture (2011). Postgraduate researchers and professional panellists will deliver presentations on the constructing of places in tourism across disciplines (Film and TV, literature, tourism studies).


The event is held by the University of Glasgow in both their campuses, Glasgow Main (Main Building, Room 134) and Dumfries Crichton (Rutherford/McCowan Building, Room 217).
