Dear all,
Here's a job advertisement for anyone working on minority languages. Please note the tight deadline and contact Joanna Kopaczyk if you have any questions about the post.
Best wishes, Anna

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I would like to draw your attention to the 5-year full-time fully funded Lord Kelvin / Adam Smith Fellowship in the Future of Scots, currently advertised at the University of Glasgow. The successful candidate will be appointed at Grade 7 (£35,210 - £39,610 pa) or Grade 8 (£43,266 - £50,132 pa), depending on their track record, and will be based in the School of Critical Studies in English Language & Linguistics, which is a department with particular strengths in modern and historical Scots. I’m delighted that my university recognises the importance of the Scots language to numerous communities across Scotland and abroad and I’m hoping the Fellow’s research will make a real impact in this area.

We are looking for scholars working on minority languages who are well placed to apply their findings in the context of the Scots language to address the linguistic status, acquisition and corpus planning for Scots, as well as issues faced by Scots-speaking communities, such as the perception of self and one’s place in society. The candidate is expected to design and carry out an ambitious research programme in the area of language policy and planning for Scots, engaging with stakeholders, including policy makers, and producing high quality research and knowledge exchange outputs. The candidate should have an excellent track record in research and outreach activities, and should be able to present evidence of having drawn links between the wider society, policy makers, and academia in the context of minority and under-supported languages.

Application Deadline: 26-Apr-2019, job reference: 024894

Best wishes,
Joanna
