CALL FOR PAPERS: UK and Ireland Association for Political Thought conference, 9th-11th January 2020 – St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford

The APT conference has taken place annually in Oxford in January since the 1970s, and is the flagship event of the scholarly community of political theorists across Britain
and Northern Ireland. It brings together scholars working across the whole field of political thought, and past plenary speakers have included Onora O’Neill, Quentin Skinner, G.A. Cohen, Lois McNay, Melissa Lane, and Rainer Forst.
The format of the APT conference is changing and expanding. In addition to its traditional plenary lectures, which will be delivered this year by Katrina Forrester (Harvard),
Jerry Gaus (Arizona), Andrew March (Amherst), Serena Olsaretti (Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona) and Linda Zerilli (Chicago), the conference will launch new formats. We are excited to invite different types of proposals from political theorists, philosophers, and
historians of political thought and we welcome contributions from international scholars based outside the UK and Ireland:
(1) Paper abstracts (300 words) and panel proposals (three papers per panel);
(2) ‘Author meets critics’ Roundtables;
(3) First book workshop (where monograph manuscripts will be presented by authors and discussed with selected respondents). To be considered, please submit description
of your manuscript no longer than two pages.
We look forward to a conference that represents a diverse set of intellectual traditions, including analytic and normative political philosophy, the history of ideas, all traditions
of critical theory, as well as comparative/global political theory. Panels that cut across traditional disciplinary boundaries and submissions from graduate students are welcomed.
