Hi folks
C & C readers may be interested in the re-vamped ‘New Cold War’ site at
www.newcoldwar.org.
Rest easy, we are not asking for money and we’re not asking for publicity (though we won’t turn either down). We are looking for writers and helpers.
We launched this little site, which had 60,000 unique visits last year, just after Maidan, with a focus on Ukraine and Russia. Since then our coverage has expanded to cover most of the world’s hotspots
including Syria, Venezuela, Palestine, Trumpism and the growing US-China conflict, Turkey, and Yemen/Saudi, and many of the world’s central issues: the threat of war, internet censorship, the rise of the far right, the witch-hunts against the left, ecological
crises, and the ongoing world economic crisis.
We now carry regular reports on many of these issues, including original reports from selected correspondents. Our model however remains mainly as it was: to republish, in curated form, key items
of news and analysis from other sources, avoiding sensationalism and fact-checking as carefully as our resources permit, and cross-referenced so that researchers and scholars have a unique one-stop resources to inform themselves in the face of a barrage of
state-sponsored and media distortions. We were amused but pleased when a
Harvard researcher, in a list of ‘False, Misleading, Clickbait-y, and Satirical “News” Sources’ defined us as ‘political” and defines that as: “Sources that provide generally verifiable information in support
of certain points of view or political orientations.”
Of course, we’d like to be better known and consulted, because we think this will help rectify the information and democratic deficit in today’s media. But to do this, we want to improve. We want to expand our reach by increasing the input
of high-standard, evidence-based and verifiable analyses and reports of key issues in the multipolar world (including translations from other sources). We carry limited coverage in Spanish, French and German and may be able to help translate key texts if they
are of significant importance and unavailable to Anglophone readers by other routes. If you think you can help, please contact me privately, or write to the editorial board address at
[log in to unmask].
