Bristol Centre for Enablement provides a range of specialist and complex assistive technology services from its newly renovated base at Cribbs Causeway to the north of Bristol. These services cover prosthetics, orthotics, wheelchairs and specialist seating services, electronic assistive technology and communication aids.

 

An opportunity for a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave has become available and we are looking to recruit an occupational therapist to provide much needed support for our clinical assessment team. The post holder will be required to provide complex clinical assessment in a range of community settings across the south west region; training and support for patients, carers and professionals and to contribute towards the development of the service. The role also requires working closely with the clinical and technical staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The service covers a large geographical area so the role will involve substantial amount of driving, trust vehicles are used for this, therefore a full driving licence will be essential along with  some occasional overnight stays.

 

The successful candidate will be a qualified occupational therapist with an enthusiasm to develop new and innovative services for the benefit of a small but complex patient group. Experience of assistive technology and working with complex disabilities will be important but more detailed training on equipment and products will be provided. This role would suit a band 6 OT looking to develop their skills or move into a new area and would also be ideal for a secondment
