We are holding the same workshop in London and Manchester.

  * Handle investigations consistently and with empathy and sensitivity
  * Comply with prevailing policies and statutes
  * Make more consistent and reliable decisions
  *   Manage cases 'Extraordinarily'
  * Secure efficiencies and significant cashable savings associated with unsatisfactory investigations

Developing a case management system for the higher education sector: <https://www.universitiesuk.ac.uk/events/Pages/Developing-a-case-management-system-for-the-higher-education-sector.aspx> 1 May, Woburn House, London

Given there was no precedent or 'off-the-shelf' solution to assist with the implementation of the UUK/Pinsent Mason Guidance on responding to events occurring between students with the potential to be criminal, UUK has been working in partnership with Coventry University, to develop practical support through development of a case management system which will support the whole process end to end.

The system will be launched by Nicola Bradfield and Dr Jane Osmond at a UUK workshop on 1 May. To register please click here. <https://www.universitiesuk.ac.uk/events/Pages/Developing-a-case-management-system-for-the-higher-education-sector.aspx>

The case management system will facilitate institutions in the reporting process for incidents that could constitute a criminal offence (including sexual misconduct) and enable the institution to capture evidence and provide support to both the reporting and responding student.

Attention will also be drawn to a toolkit which will include template documentation and guidance notes to assist an institution at each stage of the process from end-to-end, which can be customised according to an institution's own context.

This workshop will also provide you with an opportunity to hear from David Malpas and Ben Serlin from Middlesex University on the learning gained from a Community Practice Network who have already incorporated the Pinsent Masons guidance into their student discipline processes. They have been sharing practices, gathering feedback on approaches, and examining 'real-life' cases
presented in this academic year.

The event will also include a question and answer session where you will able to ask the presenters any questions relating to the implementation of the UUK/Pinsent Masons Guidance.

Tackling online harassment in higher education: <https://www.universitiesuk.ac.uk/events/Pages/tackling-online-harassment.aspx> 17 June, British Computer Society, London

Social media and the internet have become inescapable parts of our society. The internet allows us to communicate and share information with millions of people across the world, however sometimes this comes at a cost. This was acknowledged by UUK's Taskforce in their Changing the Culture report<https://www.universitiesuk.ac.uk/policy-and-analysis/reports/Documents/2016/changing-the-culture.pdf> who requested that UUK should develop guidance to support universities to address online harassment.

UUK will launch the guidance at this conference. The guidance looks at strategies to prevent and respond to online harassment, the impact online harassment has on students, and the technical and pastoral solutions you can implement.

The conference will also showcase a number of initiatives that have been developed by the sector to address online harassment. To register please click here.<https://www.universitiesuk.ac.uk/events/Pages/tackling-online-harassment.aspx>
If you have any questions about any of the events please let me know.

Many thanks, Fiona
