Please consult the FSHI Book Prize Rules before making nominations. Nominations must be submitted using the FSHI Nomination Form. Nominations and three copies of the nominated books must be received in the BSA Office by Friday 10 May 2019.

The Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness (FSHI) Book Prize of £1,000 is awarded annually each September to the author(s) or editor(s) of the book making the most significant contribution to medical sociology/sociology of health and illness and having been published over the three years preceding 1st January of the year in which the award is made (i.e. January 2016 to December 2018). The book prize for 2018 was awarded to Dr Amy Chandler (University of Edinburgh) for her book 'Self-Injury, Medicine and Society: Authentic Bodies'. The winner of the 2019 award will be announced at the BSA Medical Sociology Conference at the University of York (September 11-13).

We welcome nominations from all over the world and from anyone teaching, researching, studying, or working in the area of the sociology of health and illness. We look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Gareth Thomas (Cardiff University [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) and Sasha Scambler (KCL; [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>)
