The next instalment of the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre Distinguished Lecture Series features Dr. Omar Khan.

Dr. Khan serves as Director of the Runnymede Trust, the UK’s leading independent race equality think tank.

The event will take place on Thursday 28th March, where the evening will begin with a drinks reception at 5.30pm in the Hugh Aston building atrium at DMU followed by the lecture at 6pm in room .08.

We are privileged to welcome Dr. Khan whose lecture entitled, Research as a Tool for Social Justice, will discuss how the research agendas of the Runnymede Trust highlight the existence of racial disparities across a range of institutions in British society.  Twenty years on from the report of the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry, Dr. Khan’s work with Runnymede reminds us that to confront institutional racism, we must look well beyond policing and the criminal justice system.

Dr. Khan holds a DPhil in Political Theory from Oxford and has published many articles and reports on political theory and British political history for Runnymede.  He has spoken throughout the world on topics including multiculturalism, integration, socio-economic disadvantage, and positive action and has given evidence to the United Nations in Geneva, the European Parliament in Strasbourg, on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, and at a range of academic and public policy conferences.

We would be delighted if you could attend this lecture, join the conversation and contribute to the success of our new research centre in its launch year.

Following the lecture, guests can enjoy drinks and canapés while taking the opportunity to network.

We would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance by emailing [log in to unmask]
