Hi
We have a student with what sounds like a similar device. He has a monitor which picks things up. Only issue is that parents are insisting someone sits outside the exam hall during all his exams with the monitor
which bleeps if his level goes up or down. We can accommodate this as the member of staff sits in the foyer (near a chocolate vending machine so she is happy) and does her own work – only alerting the exam if the monitor goes off. Student seems relaxed about
it and Board were happy as nothing bleeping in the exam room.
The only time we had an issue in the recent mocks was when the student admitted he ate at the wrong time which meant his sugar level was always going to spike. Hopefully for the summer he will eat at the time
that is right for his sugar levels and thus avoid any issues.
Hope you get a solution that works for you too

I’ve just been informed of a student who has an electronic diabetes tracker fitted but it has it’s own tracking device that alerts her rather than an app on her phone and the alarm can be turned on or off as
long as she can see it.

Hi Jayne,
That would be using a sensor, it does link to an app and it tells the person their levels instantly. I would query it with JCQ, they may insist they use the older method (finger pricking). My friend uses both
in conjunction.

Good Afternoon
One of our students is diabetic and has told us that he monitors his blood sugar levels via an app on his phone. I wondered whether anyone else had encountered this kind of thing and if so, how would this be ‘managed’ during an exam?
Many thanks
