The Lancashire Law School -  at the University of Central Lancashire Preston -  require a new External Examiner from October  2019  (to start a 4 year term) for their Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)

 

The GDL is a post-graduate conversion course (taught both on campus and by distance learning) for non-law graduates and covers basic legal skills and the 7 foundations of legal knowledge subjects, viz., Contract Law, Public Law, EU Law, Criminal Law, Tort Law, Land Law, and Equity & Trusts.

 

The person requirements are:

 

·        A qualifying law degree from an English University is essential and a post-graduate qualification is desirable

·        A demonstrable interest in university quality assurance and standards, particularly those expressed in the QAA Benchmark statement

·        A commitment to validating university standards through approving assessments, reviewing samples of assessed work, attending at least one exam board in Preston per year, and engagement with general curriculum and course development projects

·        Some experience of university external examining and/or participation in university quality assurance processes and events is desirable but not essential

·        A professional and personable demeanour, efficient administrator, and effective and timely communicator

 

Remuneration is in line with the standard sector retainer fee + any travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses.

 

The successful applicant will be invited to a training and induction event to prepare them for the role.
