Hi Dom,

Thank you and looking forward to this - looks so good.  I've signed up for the 5th April - the only proviso being that this is also the last day of Athena SWAN joint working with Gina.  Here's hoping we will have covered this by then.

Best,

A

Dear all,

I'd like to advertise two events running at SOAS which you may find of interest:

Racialised Biases in Higher Education
This is an interactive workshop, which combines the frameworks of Unconscious Bias (psychological) and Critical Race Theory (sociological) to raise awareness of colleagues from across the sector, who may have limited knowledge of the issues of ‘race’ equality and unconscious bias in higher education, and to help them think about how individuals and institutions can start to address some of these issues.

Navigating toward success – ‘race’ and racism in postgraduate education
This interactive seminar will report on the findings from a research project exploring the experiences of 'home' Black and Asian students in postgraduate (PG) education, with a particular attention paid to STEM fields. We will look at the policies, practices and discourses which are othering students of colour in PG education, as well as the range of capitals (resources) that these students have at their disposal in order to navigate towards success. The research contributes to a better understanding of the systemic barriers in higher education for and the sources of agency of students of colour in postgraduate education.

All the best,
