Dear colleagues,

Diversity is a key consideration when assessing the democratic performance of media content and systems. This in turn presents methodological challenges about how to measure diversity.

As a contribution to this debate, we have developed a unique web service that calculates diversity scores from data distributions ('DIVA: Diversity Analysis using categorical data'). The site automatically calculates results for 7 diversity indices and derives confidence intervals and facilitates hypothesis testing on their basis.

The web address is:

https://diva.lboro.ac.uk/

We have produced a brief introductory video:

And a working paper:

We hope you find this resource of value and would welcome any feedback.

Best wishes
