Writing “Violence Elsewhere”

Colleagues may be interested to know that the first workshop of the DAAD-funded project ‘“Violence Elsewhere”: Imagining Violence outside Germany since 1945’, led by Clare Bielby (York) and Mererid Puw Davies (UCL), will be taking place on Saturday 23rd February at the University of York.

 

The workshop will feature the following papers:

 

Mererid Puw Davies (UCL): Representing Violence in Vietnam in West German Poetry 1966-73

 

Stephanie Bird (UCL): Representing Perpetrators in Literature

 

Joanne Leal (Birkbeck College): German engagement with Iraqi conflict: Sherko Fatah’s Das Dunkle Schiff (2008) and Der letzte Ort (2016)
