Writing “Violence Elsewhere”

Colleagues may be interested to know that the first workshop of the DAAD-funded project ‘“Violence Elsewhere”: Imagining Violence outside Germany since 1945’, led by Clare Bielby (York) and Mererid Puw Davies (UCL), will be taking place on Saturday 23^rd February at the University of York.

 

The workshop will feature the following papers:

 

Mererid Puw Davies (UCL): Representing Violence in Vietnam in West German Poetry 1966-73

 

Stephanie Bird (UCL): Representing Perpetrators in Literature

 

Joanne Leal (Birkbeck College): German engagement with Iraqi conflict: Sherko Fatah’s Das Dunkle Schiff (2008) and Der letzte Ort (2016)
