Hi there everyone,
I am about to embark on a dissertation for my MSc in Interpretation and I want to take a look at how children, in non formal contexts, experience museums and in particular how they engage with museum objects. In terms of methodology I wondered if anyone out there has any tried and tested examples of how to successfully collect some qualitative data from children aged between 7-12?? I'm thinking of observations but also would like to be able if possible to gather some more in depth data but feel that a questionnaire or even getting children to verbalise what they're experiencing may be tricky esp if I am the weird stranger asking them questions....I'm looking for fun, yet data yielding ideas I guess....
Any ideas most appreciated.
Many thanks
Nicola
