Dear colleagues,

As part of our activity as designated data body for England acting on and behalf of all higher education providers, we constantly review our collections to ensure we reduce burden where possible and only collect the data required.

MODULE UPDATE FOR APPROVED PROVIDERS
We have been in extensive discussion with the Office for Students (OfS) regarding the collection of module data for approved providers.

We have now received confirmation that approved providers in England will not need to supply module data as part of their submission.

Module data comprises the following entities:

  *   Module
  *   Module subject
  *   Module delivery
  *   Module delivery location
  *   Module delivery role
  *   Module instance
  *   Module outcome
  *   Student module fee

The removal of module data for approved providers is the final decision related to approved provider provision in the Student 2019/20 specification – it can now be considered as complete for approved providers to plan their submission.

MODULE UPDATE FOR APPROVED (FEE CAP) PROVIDERS
Module subject has also been removed altogether for all providers in England.

Please note, the OfS will still require all other module data from Approved (fee cap) providers, i.e. those that receive funding from the OfS.

The above changes will be reflected in a future coding manual update (and associated guidance) and will be versioned as a minor change to the specification. We plan to schedule this update in Spring 2019, and we will communicate when it is visible.

Many thanks,

The Data Futures team
