Dear All,

As some of you might know, millions of forest-dwellers in India face evictions following a recent ruling by the Indian Supreme Court (in response to a petition by some conservation organizations urging evictions of those whose claims to forest lands under the Forest Rights Act have been rejected). The Supreme Court will hear an appeal to stay this order on Thursday in India. An appeal, signed by conservationists/ environmentalists in India, asks the Supreme Court to reconsider this anti-conservation move to evict people in the name of conservation. Colleagues in India have requested global support and are trying to get as much support as possible before the hearing in the Supreme Court in a few hours time.

Please consider signing and/ or circulating to others.

and here are more details of the bad Supreme Court ruling in India that orders eviction of millions of Indigenous peoples and forest dwellers:

Thanks for considering this.

Best regards,

Neera
